Tangipahoa Parish, LA (April 25, 2020) – Two women died and one person was injured after a two-vehicle accident in Tangipahoa Parish Saturday morning. The crash occurred around 8:30 a.m. on I-55 just north of LA 442.
According to Louisiana State Police, 45-year-old Eunique Ebbs was driving her Honda Civic with two passengers north on the interstate in the right lane when they collided with a GMC Sierra pickup truck that was originally traveling in the left lane. Investigators are unsure how the collision occurred but said that the crash sent both vehicles off of the road and into trees.
All three occupants of the Honda Civic were severely injured in the crash and rushed to the hospital for treatment, while the driver of the GMC Sierra was uninjured. Ebbs and her front passenger, 23-year-old Shaique G.M. Andrews, later died from their injuries. So far, there has been no update on the condition of the third passenger.
The Louisiana State Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. Investigators stated that Ebbs and the driver of the GMC Sierra were wearing seatbelts at the time of the accident, but Andrews and the other passenger in the Honda Civic were not.
