Houston, TX (8/1/2020) — One person died and another is in critical condition after a car fell around 100 feet off of I-45 early Saturday morning. The crash occurred at 2:30 a.m. at the exit for 288 South.
According to Houston Police, a Dodge Charger, driven by a man in his mid-20s, was speeding down I-45 when he attempted to take the exit for 288 South. The man failed to slow down, causing the vehicle to fly off of the freeway and crash into a tree before rolling several times. His passenger, who has not been identified, died at the scene.
Police performed CPR on the driver after the wreck before transporting him to Memorial Hermann Hospital. A preliminary investigation found that the driver’s blood alcohol level was above the legal limit. If he survives, he will be charged with intoxication manslaughter.
