Houston, TX (April 21, 2020) — Two pedestrians are dead after being hit by a speeding driver in southeast Houston on Monday night. The crash happened at 11:30 p.m. on Cullen Boulevard near the South Loop.
According to Houston Police Lieutenant L. Barrow, the driver was heading northbound on Cullen Boulevard in a Chevy SUV.
Investigators say that the driver was driving faster than the posted speed limit of 35 mph. The driver swerved off the road, causing them to hit two pedestrians and a utility pole. Both victims, identified as Jason Sanders and Adam Caesar, died at the scene of the accident.
The driver was not intoxicated at the time of the crash and was not immediately charged. However, they could face charges for manslaughter or criminally negligent homicide according to Chief Sean Teare of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office’s Vehicular Crimes Division.
